December 2008 - We visited Waterloo (about 20 miles from Freetown) to see the town and to find out about the Codep project (http://www.codep.co.uk/). Waterloo is a busy "market town" which is colourful, vibrant, noisy and enticing to travelers passing through, many of whom stop for food and refreshments.
It is encouraging to see other projects taking place in this country. The Codep project aims to deliver the aspirations of the people of Waterloo, Sierra Leone, by constructing a world class library and literacy facility to underpin the resurgence of the region and to support all levels of education. This facility will be known as the Equiano Centre and will accommodate 150,000 books and deliver literacy and health education programmes to 2000 women and young girls on an annual basis.
